Thread subject: Diptera.info :: Gymnosoma rotundatum? copula

Date: 2007-JUL-21
Habitat: By gravel road through coniferous wood with bogs

I understand Gymnosoma is hard to ID. Maybe a couple in copula makes it easier to ID? I have a few more photos of various quality if some other angle would be needed. She took this guy for quite a ride ...

Not a very good photo, but hope it helps. It's not much dusting on female thorax.

I'm not sure, light is tricky, but it looks like nudifrons to me....

G. nudifrons. Sounds like we need a good view of the frons to decide, or is it just thorax dusting that differs!? Thanks both! I appreciate your efforts! B)

We need the frons of the female.
You can see it in the last pic, but there is a shade of the male, which makes me cautious.
