Hi,

a few days ago I took a few pictures of a tiny black fly on a daisy in our garden and I think it may be Phasia pusilla or maybe P. barbifrons. Can that be confirmed/excluded from the attached image? Is there any chance to distinguish the two species?

Germany, Southern Bavaria, Garden in Munich (-West), some sort of Daisy, 09.05.2024, app. 3-4 mm

Greetings, Uli

Hi Theo,

thanks again. That seems to be a large group, even though many of the species do not occur here in Europe.

Greetings, Uli

Well, you have more species than published (I know), so there are several options.
Of which pusilla is still by far the most common.
