This one was interesting ( mildly horrifying ), as the female appeared to be actively trying to push the male off with it's leg but the male continued regardless. :S

There is a northern species Corynoptera brachypennis with (as the name implies) a reduced wing. I do not know if you have that species.

Thanks John! Maybe it's that.
Can try and collect one if there is any key out there to help actually place it.

The list I have for Iceland has the following :

Sciaridae
Bradysia brunnipes (Meigen, 1804)
Bradysia cf. nitidicollis (Meigen, 1818)
Bradysia confinis (Winnertz, 1867)
Bradysia degenerans Frey, 1948
Bradysia fungicola (Winneertz, 1867)
Bradysia rufescens (Zetterstedt, 1852)
Bradysia vagans (Winnertz, 1868)
Corynoptera forcipata (Winnertz, 1867)
Corynoptera fulvicollis Tuomikoski, 1960
Corynoptera montana (Winnertz, 1869)
Lycoriella brevipila Tuomikoski, 1960
Lycoriella conspicua (Winnertz, 1867)
Lycoriella modesta (Staeger, 1840)
Lycoriella venosa (Staeger, 1840)
Plastosciara detrita Frey, 1953
Plastosciara nobilis (Winnertz, 1867)
Scaptosciara vivida (Winnertz, 1867)

Though I regularly seem to find new insect species which aren't on the list... so ...it's probably not comprehensive. Perhaps this is a new addition to the list.

There is also Corynoptera minima with reduced wings it seems :

But that's also not on the Icelandic list at present :@:D
