Thanks a lot, John! I instantly thought of Ceratopogonidae, but it seemed much too large for it. The Ceratopoginids I knew before all measured between 1 and 2.5 mm.

Females in tribes Palpomyiini, Heteromyiini, and Sphaeromiini can be up to 5 mm wing length.
