hi flyforum,
I found several mating Trichoceridae(?) on parts of trunk (chop down)tree's.
Several insekts were attrackted to the resin of these trunk.
Are these flies Trichoceridae?
And what kind of?
size: about 1cm
place: Amsterdam forest

Hello Robert,
At first I thought it was a Dixidae (wings), but they are 3-5,5 mm.
And on second thought the wings where not the same
But I think now that it could by a Winter Crane Fly.
Indeed Trichocera sp. !
But mayby somebody else has more or better info....

Hello,
this is
Trichocera , but no special characters are visible to tell which one this could be. As wing venation could be quite variable, usually genitaliae are needed to tell the species for sure :)
