I'm not a expert....but maybe a Sciaridae (Bradysia coprophila)
But thats only a wild shot....

Sciaridae, indeed, but whether these are the Bradysia suggested by Joke, I doubt it.
These must have been dead already when you took the picture. Wonder whether curiosity killed these cats, or maybe some fungus. ;)

Interesting, I thought it might have been a fungus that killed them as they seemed to be stuck to the leaf

Yes, definitely a fungus - the "outstretched legs and wings" pose is typical of parasitic fungal attack, and the pale areas on the abdomens are where the fungus is beginning to burst out to release spores.
