Hi,
I had just identified yesterday's photos of a black slender tachinid (
Mintho-like shape) to be
Lophosia fasciata, new to me, when I see Roger's thread on the same species. Apparently they are now flying all over Europe! My photos are from a damp forest path in the foothills of the Black Forest (south-west Germany). I think confusion is impossible, the dark banded wings and the broad 3rd antennal segments are striking.
Here are some pictures.
Wishing you all many more exciting finds,
Sundew

Hello Sundew!
I read your post yesterday, and today I saw my first
Lophosia fasciata since 5 years. :D
On
Heracleum sphondylium on a meadow near forest (northwest Germany). It was only my fourth find ever.
