My first fly of the year shall be a bit more spectacular than my usual ones, so I chose this from the stock of last summer. It is a Stratiomys and recalls S. singularior. Am I right?
It took a sunbath on a wall in a small town on the Baltic Island of Usedom on 19 August.

It is a female of S. singularior...

... with the possebility that it's equestris (known westwards to the Harz). A smaller sized singularior, with slightly shorter antennae and with white on the face on the inner sides of the eyes (due to hairs this can be difficult to see at once). But most likely indeed, is singularior.

I could not look into her eyes, she would surely have left... Anyhow, I think the fly is big enough to be S. singularior. Many thanks!
