A small, bristly pupa/puparium, one found attached to a leaf and other found loose on a leaf in a suburban garden in Oxford, UK, in late September. Approx. 7mm. Since then one has hatched a small parasitic wasp (probably a Braconid) but the other one hasn't hatched. I really have no idea what this is!

It's a mummified caterpillar skin, created by a braconid wasp, possibly an
Aleiodes species

That is enormously helpful, Tony - thank you so much. I wouldn't have guessed. As it's not Diptera, should I remove the post, or just change the title? I'm not sure what the etiquette is.
