Hello,
I photographed this fly on Monte Bazzano (AQ), Italy, 800m a.s.l. on September 25th 2021. I think it is a
Sargus, but is it possible to identify its species from these photos?
Thank you in advance,
Emanuele

Saluti Emanuele, no doubt it's Sargus and at large it looks like a female bipunctatus. But I wonder if more than the first 2 tergites can have red sides. All other Italian species look more different.

Thank you for the confirmation. Regarding the species, the colouration of the abdomen is indeed quite different from the one commonly observed in
S. bipunctatus. I'd wait for other remarks.
