Is this just Voria ruralis, or something similar. It look somehow different from Voria ruralis that was obsvered almost daily till the frosts came in. The calypter is somehow more pronouced in this fly, and also the shape of the abodmen is different. Unfortunately the fly did not allow shots from other angle.

Difficult. Eye hairy, scutellum black and apical vein reaching wing margin far before wing tip are consistent with Platymyia.
