As I have no photo of the epigyne, I suppose it is impossible to find the species.......or perhaps is it possible to suppress some species that have never 2 paired of black spots?
Do you have an idea of the number of paired black spots that could be seen on:
- Araniella inconspicua
- Araniella alpica
- Araniella cucurbitina
- Araniella opisthographa
- Araniella proxima
Thanks

I only know Araniella cucurbitina. It is the only species from this genus for Portugal.

All the northern european species of
Araniella have paired black spots, and usually the red spot above the spinnerets. The only visibly different species is
A. displicata which has a red mark on the abdomen. This could be any of the five - you need to look at the genitalia for definite id.

Hello, Jorge!

Hard to believe. We have 6 species in Germany alone (which look very similar, except
A. displicata). I strongly suspect that the "Arananiella cucurbitina" in Portugal consists of more than one species.
