Thread subject: Diptera.info :: Unknown calyptrate fly -> Phyto melanocephala

I'm not at all sure about this fly. My only guess is possibly a female Nyctia halterata (a male was seen in the same field margin). However, the body doesn't appear to be black enough for N. halterata. Any help with the ID would be much appreciated. Seen on 26/05/2021 in the margin of a commercial strawberry field in Kent, UK.

Many thanks,
Dylan

It seems Stevenia (Rhinophoridae)

The petiole is too short for Stevenia. It is a Phyto melanocephala, same family.
