Hi,
Can anyone confirm that this is Sylvicola fuscatus? Collected in England and doesn't seem to be on the checklist so potentially new for the UK if correct.
Thanks,
Sam

It's difficult to judge from your photos whether the distal part of the parameres is thin (whip-shaped) or flattened (spatula-shaped). If the former, then I agree this does look like
fuscatus. The critical features would be more easily seen if the end of the abdomen is detached and soaked in cold KOH overnight. If you haven't already got it, the paper by Söli and Rindal has some very good figures.

Thanks Tony for the pointers. Yes, I'd already looked at the Norwegian paper, much better figures than elsewhere. I will macerate but wanted to see if I could get it confirmed first.
Thanks Libor for the confirmation, good to hear.
I'll write it up for DD when I have time.
