The length of the proboscis caused me to deviate from M. occulta. That species has a very short proboscis: Gallery picture of M. occulta. The coloration of the wings is striking, and the abdomen is not dorsoventrally flattenend as in Myopa. With this head, only Myopotta and Melanosoma remain. Just after we met, I had the luck to work through the Conopidae in Amsterdam, which made it easier to visualize the alternatives. Mark.
