Yes, they are a common mid-summer species but they also have a slightly less commonly-seen Spring brood too. I saw one last weekend in South Oxfordshire on chalk downland :)

Another example of a small first brood is the very distinctive Phasia hemiptera, which we associate with high Summer nectaring on umbellifers etc but you can also see them in early Spring nectaring on Lesser Cellandine too :)
