Hello all,
Well, indeed difficult. The other possibility would be Eristalis jugorum, which is not much different from lineata if you can't see it's face! If it's lineata, it normally has a pale femur 3 at base, which is just not visible here! :(
But I think blowave and Jere are right with Eristalis lineata, because the wings (especially in the male) can be without dark markings! And tergite 2 seems to be completely dull, even on the yellow markings, which is a characteristic of lineata.
