Heleomyzid from woodland Lincolnshire UK 14/11/12. Size 5mm. Using Collin 1943, this keys to Leriinae (2 orbital bristles, equal in size), then to Neoleria (prothoracic sternum bare, anal vein reaching wing margin, more than one apical bristle on middle tibia, no strong bristle on jowls, orbital bristles equal).

In Neoleria the first couplet involves ‘hind femora with distinct bristle(s) above near tip’. I presume these are the distinctly ad bristles in the picture. This offers N. maritima which has very deep gena, or ruficeps which has pale legs, whereas this has front legs almost entirely blackish.

Suggestions please?

Regards
