This is a sketch of the tail end of an empid that keyed to Rhamphomyia using Collin's British Empididae. I think it is one the species he does not fully illustrate.

It has tufts of hairs only at each side of the prothoracic sternum, which leads to tibialis/nitidula/ignobilis. The aedeagus isn't right for tibialis and the body is extensively dusted, suggesting ignobilis.

Or, if you ignore the shortage of hairs on the pr. st., it could be subcinerascens as the aedeagus is very like that of sulcatella but has the little hook further from the tip. But then I can't match it to Collin's fig. 135b.

Can anyone recognise it from the drawing, please?

It was caught 1 May 2009 by a ditch through arable land west of Winteringham, England, SE914222.
