Small (1 to 6 mm. ) dark brown flies with a scuttling (fast, scrambling, jerking) habit of running very fast across a surface rather than flying. Upright posture, hump-backed appeararance.

Also (and closer)

Strong head bristles (setae).
Very characteristic wing venation. Several short, strong, thickened wing-veins crowded basally. The rest are weak. See photo Pfft of Conicera tibialis in the Articles account Diptera reared from sow dung.
One colour usually dark brown (some yellow).No pattern.
Femora laterally flattened.

Tried to attach an image to a forum post. jpg, 32kB, 72dpi, no blanks, ... File name is correctly displayed, but when I click "Preview Thread" it just vanishes. Help!
