Hi,
I am not even sure about the genus. The aculeus appears quite singular with its harpoon-like shape so maybe it will be possible to identify this female.

P.S. I have kept the specimen.

Dear Iain,
Yes all the tarsi are completely yellow, while the other parts of the legs are completely black (this can be seen better here).
Do these features narrow down the list of potential Lonchaea?
Best,
Christian

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
