This male Empis was found draught in a pool; it's a bit descomposed so I prefered not to dry it, but it seems Empis s. str. The long curved pennis should be a clue to know the species, I hope. Body length: 4.2 mm. (Spain: Girona: Beuda: March 19th 2020)

Igor Shamsev wrote it is possible it to be a new Empis s.str. species as there are many undescribed Empis s.str. in the Mediterranean region.

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
