Hi, what are the features to distinguish Nemopoda from Themira with yellow legs? I am thinking this is N. nitidula, but would be glad to be able to safely recognize them in the future. Found in Vienna, June 2019 Edited by Carnifex on 05-01-2020 13:17 Cheers, Lorin Font Color All requests are from the urban area of Vienna, if not otherwise stated. My Diptera observations (and other living forms) can be found here, and corrections or comments over there would also be appreciated. |

Hello Carnifex, Yes this is probably Nemopoda nitidula. But at altitude the sibling species N. pectinulata can also be found. For the exact differences there is a great book online available: https://www.resea..._of_Europe And for habitus photo's you can go to: https://sepsidnet...ty.online/ Kind regards, Ectemnius Edited by Ectemnius on 05-01-2020 11:04 |

Wow, these are great resources. Thanks for the links! The front bristles on the katep. are barely visible, but the spines on the inner trochanter of the male should be distinctive. As the pair was mating, one can assume the female is of the same species :-) Cheers, Lorin Font Color All requests are from the urban area of Vienna, if not otherwise stated.
