Miltogramma cf. germari (I have no idea if you have oestraceum and in any case, we can't see the fore tarsi ....)

Thank you very much, Theo!
Unfortunately, I have only two additional photos showing nearly the same features, and not the fore tarsi.
Regarding the Miltogramma species known for Lower Saxony, thanks to Jens-Hermann Stuke, who published a list of Diptera reported from Lower Saxony recently, I can say that only M. germari, M. murina and M. punctata are mentioned. But of course that doesn't mean that oestraceum can be excluded, as I understand it, because the overall knowledge of Sarcophagidae (an Diptera of most families in general) for Lower Saxony is still quite poor.
And the host of oestraceum, Dasypoda hirtipes (if my information is correct), is quite common on the sandy soils here.

Well, it is not punctatum (sic, -gramma is neutral) nor murinum.

And Miltogramma are hardly host specific and Dasypoda occurs on any open sand, so that is not informative, alas

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
