Hello, In the south of France, on May 02, 2018. A red beard may indicate Calliphora vomitoria but the spiracle is orange like Calliphora vicina Is it another species? Liliane D attached the following image: [216.56Kb] Edited by Liliane D on 05-09-2019 10:22 |

Hello Liliane D, a female Calliphora vomitoria as prey of Synema globosum (Thomisidae) the anterior thoracic spiracle is usually infuscated (Rognes). I think that light can alter the appearance of the infuscation. see my attachment of microscopic differences based upon angle and lighting. Best wishes, John johnes81 attached the following image: [52.21Kb] John and Nini. Naturalists not experts. |

Thank you very much John, Lighting is indeed sometimes misleading. Best wishes, Liliane |
