Berlin - July 2017

Hello everyone,

I found this fly on my balcony in July 2017. I still have no idea which family it belongs to. I could use some help with this one. I only have a few photos and they are all dorsal like the one that i will post. Any help is greatly appreciated. I don't have very much experience or knowledge with gnats and certain midges.

Thank you very much,
John

Hello John,

that is a good match. Thank you very much. I see photos at bugguide:
https://bugguide.net/node/view/1011642/bgpage

I'm happy to get an idea of what it could be. Maybe next time i have a specimen to examine.

Much appreciated,
John

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
