Hi, can someone cornfirm this as a male Cylindromyia auriceps? I´ve tried to identify it using the key by Tschorsnig/Herting 1994. Some additional information: Found in northeast germany (Brandenburg), crossed scutellar bristles, hind tibia with two pv bristles. I wonder if the character for male C. intermedia "1st segment of the fore tarsus in its apical half widened ventrally and fitted with a double comb of short spines" would be clearly visible for a beginner like me? Well, it is a female ..... what you considered to be male genitalia, is actually the ovipositor. Male Cylindromyia have long pulvilli and lack proclinate orbital bristles on the parafrons. So try again. Are you really sure about the presence of apical scutellar bristles ? Theo |
