Is it possible to identify the species of this Micropezidae? I would suppose that it belongs to the genus Neria. I found the fly end of may in an alder forest in the Harz mountains (Germany, Saxony-Anhalt, Schierke) appr. 500 m asl. One wing is deformed.

Thanks
Andreas

Neria sp. is about as close as you are likely to get with any degree of certainty.
Jindřich Roháček in Micropezidae (Diptera) of Czechoslovakia illustrates the female terminalia of the genus, N.cibaria has a kinked shape.

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
