Hi,

this fly is similar to Herina tristis or gyrans, but in both the wing pattern does not fit perfectly.
Found in the surroundings of Vienna, mid of May

All requests are from the urban area of Vienna, if not otherwise stated.

My Diptera observations (and other living forms) can be found here, and corrections or comments over there would also be appreciated.

Otites formosa Panzer (in fact, this name is a junior homonym, and it is better to use O. ruficeps instead).

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
