Hello, a 10 mm fly on hedge between a meadow and a small creek (northwest Germany). Unfortunately there is only this photo. But I am also unsure, which Muscidae genus it could be. Does not look like Eudasyphora or Morellia. It's a pity that I could not take more and better photos (working with a very old camera in the moment, because my new(er) one has a broken trigger). I think Calliphoridae, probably subfamily Calliphorinae, but I can't place it in a genus. |

Hello Juergen, the silver dusting may be confusing but the fly as a whole is clearly Melinda viridicyanea male. The bend in the vein is similar to Calliphora but more subtle. Keep an eye out for gentilis which will convey a more modest and aloof presence. here is a male with silver dusting: johnes81 attached the following image: [22.2Kb] John and Nini. I was worried, because I did not read of you here for a long time. I hope you are on the way of convalescence now! Hello Juergen, Thank you for taking time to express concern for my well being. All is good. I told you before that my arm was hurting and i spent seven months in pain trying to find the cause. Turns out that i had impingement syndrome, beginning of frozen shoulder, several ruptures in my tendon and bicep, bursitis with heavy bleeding and my shoulder muscles were cracking. I had to have surgery and plenty of physical therapy. I've spent downtime studying php programming language and building my nature website. I finally completed my login system and csrf token system. I'm slowly getting back to using my cameras. I hope that you have a pleasant night. John and Nini. Naturalists not experts. |
