overwintering Heleomyzidae - Harz, Germany

During monitoring of hibernating bats in an old mining tunnel (Bakenbergstollen) in the Harz mountains (Germany), we observed this fly far deep in the tunnel. Similar to some Scathophaga of Scathophagidae but it is belonging to Heleomyzidae of which some species are typical cave inhabitants. |
