Northern Germany, Hamburg-Rissen, Schnaakenmoor, way between mixed forest (with birch, pine, ash, oaks, alder buckthorn) and an area of moor, at a leaf of Frangula alnus, 3rd of May 2018, Outsidephoto: kuv. It MIGHT be... The little female is extremely dirty, we can hardly recognize the setae on the legs! And if you try the key by Ball (http://scathophag...agidae.pdf), you have problems already with the first question: arista long haired or not. IF YES, we COULD arrive at S. inquinata, as there seem to be ad bristles on the hind femora. However, the hind margins of the tergites should be a bit darker. So S. cf. inquinata ist the most this fly can get - sorry... Regards, Sundew |

Thank you very much Sundew for showing the way to get at least the cf.-ID. And thanks for the hint to the key and other informations. One additional point for S. inquinata is that I found the fly in a moor, as written in Hackman (1956) - (see key page 165). I just noticed that I had sent an second ID question before about a similar fly near the same place (see https://diptera.info/forum/viewthread.php?forum_id=5&thread_id=87305).
