According to Nikita (https://diptera.i...d_id=42476, http://www.biosoi...000343.pdf) G. maculata and G. minor are conspecific and the name should be G. maculata. |

Kahis told me, that in Finland lives two species: maculata and minor (DNA-differences), and here is rather minor. |

I love species that can be told apart by DNA differences only Well, Jere is an excellent dipterist, but I wonder why this should be G. minor, given that there is only this one picture. G. minor should have a ad seta on the mid tibia, which I cannot detect (the part is out of focus). Furthermore, the grey middle stripe on the thorax should be much darker than the neighbouring ones (with the dc). I do not see such a difference. However, as Nikita pointed out, these characters are variable, so it seems we have to rely on the DNA alone... |

G. minor appears in whole Finland and G. maculata only in Southern Finland. Jyväskylä in in Middle Finland. But despite I use cf. |
