Hi,
This female Atylotus was seen in southern Brandenburg on 1. August 2014. I can exclude A. fulvus, as the eyes areobviously short-haired, but cannot tell apart A. plebeius and A. rusticus, so help is greatly appreciated!
Many thanks, Sundew

Hmmm, plebejus has longer hairs and the eye and fulvus short.
That said, this is rusticus: grey femora, short hairs on the eye, indeed Smile

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
