I think this is Tabanidae, but I am not sure. Is it possibel to id this fly?
Photographed in the Elburz mountains, North Iran.

Appears to be Therioplectes carabaghensis according to Theo's 2006 revision.

I don't remember seeing or feeling any Tabanus. I don't think I photographed any. Next time....

Yes. Probably the only species around. For other species, visit the Lenkoran forest. at the Azeri and Caspian Sea border.
