Flensburg, N.Germany, 15.45pm 19th August 2018. Many small (2mm body) black flies - at the edge of the water - in my bird-bath - in my vegetable garden. Some were walking on the water, others were mating. On the following days I only noticed 2 or 3 around the water. Thanks in advance Ray Ray Perry attached the following image: [137.69Kb] Edited by Ray Perry on 11-09-2021 21:01 |

Hi Ray Perry, The wing venation suggests Sphaeroceridae; Limosininae. Looking at the behaviour and the dusting; possibly Pseudocolinella sp. Regards, Ectemnius |
