Dear all,

We found this possible cave gnat in Germany, lower saxony in a tiny carst cave together with cave spiders and bats.
we were told, that Speolepta leptogaster can appear in this cave, but the imaged diptera was about 1cm body size, which is to big Speolepta leptogaster.
Maybe you have some ideas.
Germany, Ith mountain near Holzen, 04.08.2018.
Thanks in advance.

Best Alex

It looks very like Limonia nubeculosa to me.

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
