Diifficult species but what about a genus? the rest of us could benefit from an idea of what it is. I've tried to key it and i reach Carcelia. Is this correct? I'd like to learn from the photos if it is Carcelia or not. Rosenvinge has excellent photos for visual learning.

Hopefully Theo will offer a genus. Smile

Carcelia has red tibiae, so that is not an option.

But this is from Swexen, so you'd really need to think outside your comfort zone. Might be Nilea, Thelymyiz, who knows ....

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
