female - Berlin - July, 2018 I think that this specimen is Rhagionidae and i match it with Chrysopilus. I've read various comments about Chrysopilus laetus and luteolus which makes me wonder if dna is a better route. I am hoping that we can confirm this species or name a better match. Females are tricky, but indeed this looks like laetus. Nice find, in Berlin. Theo |

Thank you, Theo. I went out yesterday to explore. I haven't taken the cameras outside for months now. I went to a field area with woods and a farm to try to find a female Stomoxys calcitrans. I found a male last month. Anyway, I was in the wooded area before the fields and i saw her sitting on a leaf. I had a good day yesterday. I finally found Morellia sp. which could be simplex, I found a Phormia regina by the horses, I found Helina sexmaculata and a few syrphidae. I also found a mating pair of Thereva. Very interesting day. I want to go out again today. I hope that i can find some Tachinidae. John and Nini. Naturalists not experts. |
