yes to Anthomyia. I have a male A. pluvialis and i think that it looks different. I recommend viewing the fifth sternite and the genitalia for a positive id. thoracic marks are not reliable. Plus, i have a male pluvialis and the parafacialia are separated. The parafacialia seem to be touching on your specimen. I have not read anything about parafacialia but this is interesting. Certainly someone knows something about this subject. Why would they be separated on one specimen, then touching on another specimen? I will one day ask Michelsen about this. The terminalia seems longer and thicker on my specimen in lateral view. I do not have enough experience to judge it correctly without dissection. However, i think that procellaris or imbrida is possible. Also, the marks on the sides of the tergites look smaller than the marks on my specimen. I do not know if Michelsen mentions the amount of anterodorsal setae on the hind tibia or not. You should make a clear photo of the hind tibia and ad setae to help id. I haven't seen Johanna posting but maybe she will notice your thread and visit. John and Nini. Naturalists not experts. |
