Berlin - June 2018 I found this today around the garbage area of my apartment building. Very nice looking specimen. is it possible to get a genus? I intend to examine the specimen when i have free time to do so. I have a similar specimen but the abdomen is a different color. I will make a separate post because it could be a different species... Thank you for your time. johnes81 attached the following image: [35.08Kb] Edited by johnes81 on 07-06-2018 09:29 John and Nini. Naturalists not experts. |

Thank you, Tony. I must admit that i thought the other specimen was the newly emerged. I guess that i am used to spiders. Young spiders can be quite pale or transparent when they shed their skin. I am happy that you corrected me here. Very nice to know

The red colour of this individual is from the haemoglobin, inherited from the larva. It will disappear over a short time, the melanin areas will darken, and mature colour will be achieved.

I have dissected the terminalia for a better view. Hopefully the genitalia confirms without doubt.

I'd say that was a good match for pedellus
