Hi all, I've obtained this specimen from some dry fruits of Centaurea sp. (Asteraceae), from Romania. Any idea about the genus/species?

The shape of vein Sc, the white hairs on the thorax, and the habitat suggest Tephritidae. It is unusually dark for Tephritidae.

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
