Hello,

Could anybody tell if this Tachinid is indeed a species of the genus Linnaemya?
Would any further identification be possible -maybe L.tessellans?

Pictures taken 25-07-2016 in a park in Nieuwegein, The Netherlands.

Thanks in advance,
Reindert

Yes, it is Linnaemyia.
It looks interesting, I doubt whether it is tessellans.
Looks more like picta or similar. Not sure, though.

Linnaemyia is a very difficult genus !

Thank you very much for you answer, Theo!

It took me quite a while to figure out the genus, so I'm happy to know that it really is a Linnaemya (sp.) Smile

Kind regards,
Reindert

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
