Berlin - mid June 2016 I just bought a dslr and macro lens in 2016. A windy day plus auto shutter made for very bad photos. I think that this is a Tachinid but Tachinids are not the only flies with a subscutellum and I cannot see enough features to place it correctly. The fly could be a Muscidae for all I know. A genus is probably not possible with these photos but atleast a confirmation for Tachinidae? Thank You. edit: I think that tlegrand is correct with Rhinophora lepida but I will check the list of known species here in Germany for any similar flies. If there are no similar flies, then it should be Rhinophora lepida. Thank You tlegrand. johnes81 attached the following image: [164.29Kb] Edited by johnes81 on 18-11-2017 15:03 John and Nini. yes! that is the family. I was trying to remember the name Rhinophoridae but my brain is asleep today. I believe that there is a bend in the m vein but it is difficult to see. I have no photos from this Family, so this is why I struggle to remember it. Thank You so much tlegrand. I truly appreciate your help. I will try to read about this Family a bit today...
