"Do not put very different queries/requests in the same thread. It keeps the flow of information much clearer if two subjects are not mingled in one thread. If necessary, just create two threads." (FAQ)

You also have separate forum for Syrphidae.

Calliphorid looks like Onesia.
I think that it has a presutural ia which eliminates floralis.

John and Nini. Naturalists not experts.

johnes81: Thank you, yes, looks like Onesia. Three species lives in the Czech Republic (O. austriaca, O. floralis and O. kowarzi). O. kowarzi is supposedly rare. Is it Onesia austriaca?

crex: Oh, sorry, you are right.

Onesia and alike are bronze, not blue.
I'd say this is a Melinda sp.

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
