Hi,

because of the strong bristles on the wing edge I would address this fly to the family Heleomyzidae,
and maye the wing pattern might allow the determination of Suillia variegata?

Photographed in August in a garden in the City of Vienna,

All requests are from the urban area of Vienna, if not otherwise stated.

My Diptera observations (and other living forms) can be found here, and corrections or comments over there would also be appreciated.

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
