I spotted this fly on a leaf in Mindo , Ecuador ,it was about 15mm in length ,with a blue thorax and blue and red abdomen .I think it is a Tachinid , but I would like to know if anyone can give me any clues as to species .Thankyou Paul. creaturesnapper attached the following image: [37.43Kb] |

Possibly Archytas. The larger species in subfamily Tachininae tend to have projecting chin and pedicel nearly as long as first flagellomere. |

Thankyou John , that looks like a very good call ,Archytas metallic us is very similar . |
