Good evening,

Could you please help me with the ID of this Conopid?
I took the pictures on July 7, at Odiáxere dam, north of the city of Lagos, South of Portugal.
Thanks in advance for any help.
Kind regards,

Fernando

A female Conops silaceus to me. But I would be happier with a more lateral view. I trust morphological features much more than colours Wink

Thanks Piluca for your help. Unfortunately I don't have any other photo, so it will stay as Conops cf. silaceus.

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
