This time I am bragging, more than enquiring. Some of my friends produce delightful shots of delightful organisms, and Lynette Knott Rudman of Grahamstown, South Africa, more than most. I don't know this small Bombyliid, and for all I know it might not be well known if at all. If it is unknown, enjoy, and if there are comments and opinions, they will be welcome. Found in garden on a small flower, its body length is decidedly less than 1cm. 2 Photos. jonrichfield attached the following image: [134.09Kb] |

This is the same fly, but showing the venation more usably. The little white spots are unlikeany other species I have seen, but being so symmetrical, they must be characteristic of the species and not from any external source . . jonrichfield attached the following image: [182.3Kb] Edited by jonrichfield on 20-03-2015 20:47 |

Thank you John, that is almost certainly correct. Lynette appreciated your helpfulness and expertise. |
