To answer your question, it is generally not possible to identify Psychodinae from photos. If you find specimens that look different from this, please collect them after you take the picture Wink

Thanks Gunnar,
Is there any good key to genus level of Psychodinae?

Not really. All existing genus keys that exist are mostly outdated or misleading in terms of nomenclature, systematics and/or taxonomy. Genus-level taxonomy in Psychodinae is still very poorly explored, and it is likely to change.
The best is Vaillant's (1971-1983) key in E. Lidner's (ed.) Die Fliegen Der Palearktischen Region, which unfortunately is rather hard to find. It suffers from many weak points - the names are wrong for several of the genera, and many have been split since his time - but is still better than the other ones.

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
